We have around 20 highly qualified massage therapists at St James’s who offer a wide range of treatments from simple neck and back massage to Thai and Shiatsu.
Many of our therapists have been working here for several years, contributing to our friendly atmosphere where staff and clients get to know each other.
You can come for half an hour or half a day, depending on how indulgent you are feeling!
Massage has many benefits and is recognised as an aid to health care – lowering stress levels, improving circulation, aiding recovery from injury and strengthening the immune system.
At St James’s Health Club we offer the following kinds of massage:
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage can be strong and deep or a lighter and more relaxing massage – you can tell your therapist how you prefer it. This treatment can concentrate on the neck and back, where stress and tension are most obviously felt, or the whole body.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu massage is a Japanese therapy which works on the meridians and pressure points of the body. It aims to unblock the meridians to help energy flow through the body, helping relieve general depression and lethargy.
Thai
Thai massage is a strong effective massage, similar to Shiatsu. Techniques involve gentle pressure with hands and feet and a variety of movements that manipulate and stretch the body.
Aromatherapy
If you want to be soothed, aromatherapy massage is the one to choose. It uses natural essential plant oils, which release therapeutic properties that are easily absorbed into the skin.
Reflexology
This foot massage works on the pressure points and reflexes of the foot, which are linked to other areas and organs of the body. It is a gentle therapy that encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. |
